Proposed course structure, to be adapted as the course unfolds
Thursday:
- Introduction of instructor and participants
- Sharing of expectations and course more
- Introduction to research approaches
- Elaboration of a conceptual model of research
- Research as a person-centered endeavor of search for "truth"
- The role or function of the researcher, personal example
- A systems perspective on research
- Discussion
- Finalizing the mode of course evaluation
Friday and Saturday morning:
- Participants present their research questions and research approaches
- Discourse of participants' proposals
- Deepening into special themes raised by participants' questions and research needs
- Selected issues of data analysis from interviews, written reflections and group discussions
Saturday afternoon and Sunday: (individual work outside of class)
- Participants incorporate new insights into their refined/revised approaches
Monday:
- Participants present their refinements and plans for further work
- Elaboration of open questions
- Research in the iCom team - using practice-research workshops for data collection and knowledge transfer
- Reflection
Structure of research theme slots:
- Researcher presents his/her theme and questions (max. 15 min.) and before starting the presentation appoints an interviewer
- Interviewer summarizes what researcher wants to find out and asks questions to researcher with the objective of clarifying issues. Reason of why a question is asked are welcome. (max. 10 min)
- Group splits in pairs and shares about: * What does researcher want? * What could help him/her? (max. 20 min)
- Whole group shares, facilitators share their thoughts, ideas, impressions, feelings.
- Researcher may share his or her reactions/feelings
After the course: Let inputs unfold, reach you in a relaxed state of mind.
