Intended learning outcomes
General:
- The course is intended to significantly contribute to the maintenance and further forming of a significant learning and knowledge creation community for the advancement of socio-technical systems supported by ICT. Participants get to know each other's research questions and proceedings and know options on which methods to select, based on their research questions.
Subject specific:
- Participants can name research methods and explain the basics of qualitative and quantitative procedures.
- Participants can explain the usefulness of mathematical models in certain contexts.
- Participants know the benefits and shortcomings of qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Participants can argue the appropriateness of research methods suitable to tackle their research question
- Participants can argue the appropriateness of research methods suitable for researching other research questions in the context of advancing socio-technical systems.
- Participants can explain the basics of philosophy of science.
- Participants can explain the basics of systems thinking.
- Participants can explain the basic features of person-centered research and distinguish it from other approaches.
- Participants have initial knowledge about appropriate research methods to start tackling their research questions.
