Short Description
"All about Dancing" is an internet portal for all people interested in dancing - especially in Vienna.
The benefit of this site would be to provide all information in only one place.
Actors
- "Unregistered User": Anyone who wants to get information of dance schools, balls, competitions or searching a dance partner
- "Registered User": Users who want to share information about events with other - e.g. providing pictures or videos of the last event, writing news entries
Functionalities
Registration
As there a some personalized functions existing, user registration is optional. If you are a registered user you can add events to the Ball and Competetion Calender, provide dance videos an so on. We also want to save the address. Then we could use Google Map the way to get to the selected dance school or any other event.
Login

Dance schools in Vienna/Austria

We can also use google maps for exact location of the dance schools. Registered users can leave a feedback about their experience in the school
Searching dance partner
That's for finding a dance partner for a course or an event.

Various solutions:
- A link to an existing partner search
- Build own search for registered users.
Ball calendar
Registered users can add an event to the calendar.
Optional: Users can subscribe calender - using ical (see «Wikipedia»)
Various solutions:
- A Google calendar should be provided - so everyone could add this calendar to his existing calendar.
Competition calendar
Registered users can add an event to the calendar.

Dance video
We don't want to provide an upload function - this should be done via YouTube or similar sites. Users should be able to publish the link to the video and a short description. Optionally voting should be possible.
Pictures or Picture gallery
Registered Users: Upload function - or only linking of existing web albums - e.g. picasaweb.google.com
Various solutions:
- One picture frame on every page and pics are changing every time you reload a page!

News
The latest news are displayed. We want to import RSS feeds from various other dance sites.
Optional: Forum, Chat
For communication between registered users.
It's intended to use existing tools - e.g. Twitter.
System Requirements
This is an internet application, accessible via web browser.
- Infrastructure:
- Web Server including Servlet Engine
- Database for storing user registration data, dance schools and all data we need
- Techniques:
- Database: mySQL or any other database for free
- Server Side: PHP
- Client Siede: HMTL, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, RSS
