ULV – Mission Statement 

 

Stellung, Aufgabe und Arbeitsweise des UniversitätslehrerInnenverbandes 

Der ULV 

• ist Teil der hochschulpolitischen Interessensvertretungen und Organisationen auf Bundesebene. Er wirkt auf einer Ebene mit der Rektorenkonferenz, der Gewerkschaft Öffentlicher Dienst/Bundessektion Hochschullehrer (GÖD/BS13) und dem Zentralausschuss der Hochschullehrer (ZA), sowie lokal in Kooperation mit den Betriebsräten.  

• ist der bundesweite Zusammenschluss der UniversitätslehrerInnenverbände der einzelnen Universitäten (Lokalverbände) und vertritt deren Interessen gegenüber der Politik, den anderen Organisationen und der Öffentlichkeit  

• ist als Verein registriert, wird anteilig durch die Mitgliedsbeiträge der Lokalverbände finanziert und ist finanziell und politisch unabhängig. 

Der ULV 

• hat ein universitätspolitisches Programm mit dem Titel  

Universität,  

Leistung durch Kooperation und  

Verantwortung durch Partizipation" (2004) 

• hat ein Präsidium mit Vorsitzendem/r, einem/r StellvertreterIn, regionalen VertreiterInnen, einem/r SchriftführerIn und einem/r KassierIn, sowie einem/r Pressesprecher/in und ein erweitertes Präsidium aus den VertreterInnen aller Lokalverbände.  

• hat ein Publikationsorgan, das Mitteilungsblatt, welches viermal im Jahr erscheint und alle WissenschafterInnen und KünstlerInnen an den österreichischen Universitäten erreicht. 

Der ULV 

• bestimmt seine mittelfristigen Aufgaben und Ziele in den jährlichen Delegiertenversammlungen durch die Vertreter der Lokalverbände.  

• entscheidet über die Umsetzung der Ziele in regelmäßigen Sitzungen des Präsidiums und des erweiterten Präsidiums.  

• vertritt seine Ziele durch institutionelle Kontakte zu den anderen Organisationen im Rahmen des Kontaktkomitees und durch personelle Einbindung in GÖD, ZA und Betriebsräte. 

Der ULV 

• wurde bereits 1956 als gesamtösterreichischer Dachverband lokaler Assistenten¬verbände gegründet und versteht sich als Vertretung der Interessen und Anliegen aller WissenschafterInnen und KünstlerInnen.  

• bemüht sich durch Koordination und Bündelung unterschiedlicher Gruppen-interessen einen Interessensausgleich und eine gemeinsame Meinungsbildung herbeizuführen.  

• stellt Solidarität gegen Hierarchie und Zeitgeist. 

Der ULV 

• ist die mitgliederstärkste hochschulpolitische Organisation.  

• hat breiten Handlungsspielraum.  

• bietet den Rahmen für konzeptives Denken und engagiertes Handeln in hochschulpolitischen Fragen. 

 

ULV – Mission Statement 

Association of the Scientific and Artistic Staff of Austrian Universities 

 

ULV  

is part of lobbies concerned with policies of higher education and organisations at federal level. The ULV acts on the same level as the rectors’ conference, the union of public services, section of university scientists and artists (GÖD, BS13) and the Central Council of Scientific University Staff Austria (ZA) as well as in cooperation with the local workers’ councils. 

is the nationwide union of university scientists’ and artists’ associations of all Austrian universities (local associations) and represents their interests towards the government, other organisations and the public.  

is registered as an association, proportionately funded by membership fees of the local associations. 

is financially and politically independent. 

 

ULV 

has a programme (or program [AE]) for university politics entitled 

„Universität, Leistung durch Kooperation und Verantwortung durch Partizipation" (2004)  

University, Achievement through Cooperation and Responsibility through Participation (2004) 

• has an executive committee consisting of a chair, deputy chair, regional representatives, a secretary and a treasurer as well as a spokesperson, and an extended committee consisting of representatives of all local associations. 

• has an organ for publication, the “Mitteilungsblatt”, which is published quarterly and is available to all scientists and artists at Austrian universities. 

 

ULV 

defines its medium-term tasks and objectives at the annual delegate meetings of representatives of the local associations. 

decides on the implementation of its objectives in periodic meetings of the executive committee and the extended committee. 

represents its objectives through institutional contacts with other organisations within the framework of the contact committee) as well as through personal integration in GÖD, ZA and local workers’ councils. 

 

ULV 

was founded in 1956 as the Austrian umbrella association of local assistant and associate-professor associations and nowadays represents the interests and concerns of ALL scientists and artists. 

strives to bring about a balance of interests and a cooperative decision-making process by means of coordination and bundling of diverse group interests. 

opposes solidarity to hierarchy and zeitgeist. 

 

ULV 

is the university association with the highest number of members. 

has a wide scope of action. 

offers a framework for conceptional thinking and dedicated action in all areas of university politics.
