More on the 2nd block ...
Below is the original plan, however, we'll need to improvise due to the current need to cut down on face-to-face contact. The course will continue anyway and I'm currently searching for ways on how to spend our course-time most meaningfully.
Original plan: Motto is: Sharing and filling the 'container'
- Continuing to work on participants' challenges
- Characteristics of well-functioning relationships - elaboration in teams
- Rogers' preliminary law of interpersonal relationships
- TO DO:
- Submit your reaction to the second block
Adaptation to eLearning mode:
- A: Tasks to be accomplished individually throughout the second block plus a few days to give you enough flexibility:
- Learn about cultural dimensions, e.g. at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hofstede%27s_cultural_dimensions_theory
- Make a few (about 5) comparisons between countries using https://www.hofstede-insights.com/product/compare-countries/ and compare the values with your own intercultural experience using examples from your experience. Copy your comparisons and reflections into your ePortfolio (under the Tab ePortfolios)
- Think about what are the characteristics of well-functioning interpersonal relationships in your view and experience. Assemble a list with brief explanations or examples and copy it into your ePortfolio, under the Tab ePortfolios. Later you'll be able to see your colleague's lists and we can compare this to the literature.
- In the section on "References and Resources" below choose whatever catches your interest and reflect upon it in about one paragraph in your ePortfolio.
- B: Interactive tasks using digital media
- Explore how active listening works for you in virtual communication via mobile phone, some text-based chat or email tool and a video-conferencing system. Do experiments, document your results if possible, and reflect upon them briefly in your ePortfolio and/or reaction sheet. You can communicate with your class-mates (see Participants Tab) or any other people. If giving a protocol, please keep it anonymous such as not to reveal private content. Thanks
- Active listening and sharing via skype (Renate.motschnig) or phone (+43 664 60277 78210) with your facilitator Renate:Hi, I'm available for sharing today March 19th between 5 PM and 6:40 PM and on March 20th between 10:20 - 12:00. If we need more slots I'm going to offer more for Friday afternoon. To schedule your optional 20 min slot please post your preference in the forum. For me it would be best to have consecutive slots (no holes between slots). I look forward to be in touch with you, Renate
