Expected outcomes from the participants' perspective
Participants approach at least some of the following outcomes to a clearly perceivable degree. Participants:
- become better listeners and can express themselves more transparently. They gain competence in engaging in dialogue
- can explain the essence of the person-centered approach to counselling as well as communication in general. They can distinguish between dialogue and discussion and use either of them in work- or project-related tasks
- become more open to their experience, more expressive, and more acceptant and understanding of others even across different cultures
- perceive their (social, international) environment more accurately and more realistically (more "extensionally"), improving both their problem solving capacities in complex, work-related contexts and their abilities of working in/with teams and groups
- reflect their experiences and look at them in the light of person-centered values as well as perceived business- and educational values
- explore and reflect the features and values of both presence and computer-mediated interaction in their work-related contexts and in international settings
- elaborate and reflect a person-centered approach to conflict resolution
- experience and reflect the process and facilitation-style in a loosely structured, person-centered, international community and get first-hand experience on the potentials and limitations of such settings
- experience evaluating themselves regarding their course experience and contribution
- experience and reflect the “open-case” setting as a loosely structured, case-based, and time-restricted form of encountering each other
- gain more clarity on their personal values and valuing process and learn to respect and constructively deal with values that differ from their own ones.
Particular emphasis will also be on the outcomes that participants wish to reach.
